Umi Sinha was born in a military hospital in Bombay and grew up in various places in India. She moved to Britain at fifteen. She has an MA in Creative Writing with distinction from the University of Sussex and taught on the creative writing programme there for ten years. She now teaches on the MA at Brighton University, runs her own classes and workshops and a mentoring service for writers called Writing Clinic. She is also a trained performance storyteller and co-runs The GuestHouse Storytellers, an oral storytelling club based in Newhaven. Her short stories have been published in magazines and anthologies. Belonging, published by Myriad Editions in 2015, is her first novel.
